Dropshipment processes optimized

Have you ever wondered if the item you purchased online was shipped directly from the store or from a centralized automated warehouse? Probably not, but more online retailers are using a smart method called dropshipment. This allows them to sell products without keeping them in stock. When you place an order, another supplier ships the item to you, often in the retailer’s name. Order Nordic is one such supplier

About Order Nordic

Order Nordic is a distributor with over 40 years of experience, specializing in electronics and home appliances in categories such as home and house hold, telecom, audio and video, personal care, and accessories. The company offers a broad range of products delivered from a highly automated warehouse in Helsingborg to customers across the Nordics. Order Nordic has undergone a major transformation with the implementation of a new ERP system and optimized dropshipment processes

“Each year, we ship 200,000–300,000 packages picked by an Autostore robot warehouse. It’s a complex process where accurate picking lists and delivery notes are essential,” says CEO Christian Beck

From Traditional to Innovative

The previous ERP system, Movex, had served the company for 30 years. However, increasing legal and customer demands required more advanced features than the old system could offer.

“We needed to handle our documents ourselves in a simple and efficient way so we wouldn’t be dependent on external help. We chose Dynamics BC and built new integrations with our highly automated Autostore warehouse. This modern solution enables deliveries to central warehouses, stores, end customers, and our customers’ end customers

We chose Lasernet to increase flexibility and allow us to create and adapt solutions to meet our customers’ needs and requirements. Implementation alongside our ERP system was smooth and works very well with our WMS. Lasernet has opened up many possibilities and provides great flexibility for all documents in our ERP system, especially for dropshipment,” says a satisfied Christian Beck

New Competitive Advantages

“Customizing for customers has become faster and easier, and we can now proactively offer more than standard documents,” says Christian Beck. A key challenge was meeting the increasingly complex document requirements of growing B2C customers, such as:

  •  Including logos, even dynamic ones.
  •  Double-sided printing, e.g., with payment or
  • return information on the back.
  •  Promotional offers on the back.
  •  Specifying legal charges like chemical taxes, copyright fees, and environmental fees
    on invoices.

“We have created a future-proof platform that makes us an attractive business partner, able to help customers adapt quickly and easily”

Smooth Implementation and a Calm Go-Live

Strong partnerships were key to a smooth transition after go-live. Amazingly, all major processes were functional within just two days

“There were very few errors after go-live. Only a few fields needed adjustment, but all customers received the deliveries, delivery notes, and invoices they required.” Tabellae and Navet AB were excellent partners during the process, quickly resolving necessary adjustments
