Danish Agro has significantly expanded through acquisitions of international companies. At the same time, the company has established a digital infrastructure using intelligent data utilization, positioning itself as an innovative partner in agriculture’s digital transformation.
About Danish Agro
Danish Agro Group is a cooperative owned by Danish farmers. It is one of the largest and most significant partners for the agricultural sector in the Baltic Sea region. The group’s activities are divided into the business areas of Agribusiness, Special Feed, Machinery, and Food.
Danish Agro previously operated on an older ERP system, LEC2000, and decided to upgrade to Dynamics 365 F&SCM and Lasernet.
Extensive integration of companies
“Our international expansion began in the early 2000s,” says CIO Bo Rønn, who has led Danish Agro’s digital expansion and the implementation of Dynamics 365 F&SCM since 2016. “Denmark became too small to accommodate our ambitions, so Danish Agro expanded abroad. We acquired companies around the Baltic Sea, and soon we had 120 companies under our wing, with a total of 4,000 users.”
From an IT perspective, integrating different ERP systems was a challenge. A gradual approach was chosen to achieve global standardization and efficiency in the company’s international IT landscape.
Dynamics 365 could not meet the industry’s document requirements, so the company opted for Lasernet to manage printing and business documents, both incoming and outgoing.
“We are gathering more and more data, which—if used correctly—can help us continue to be front-runners for the farmers”

Goals and digital solutions
Bo Rønn continues: “Our farming customers are becoming larger and more professional. Danish Agro’s overarching goal is to be the preferred partner for farmers by providing not only traditional agricultural resources like knowledge, advice, machinery, genetics, and products but also digital solutions that help farmers comply with regulatory requirements and make their operations more climate-friendly and efficient.”
Examples of these digital solutions include:
- Digital weather stations that measure hyperlocal weather and send alerts when it’s a good time for fertilization.
- Cameras in pig stables for monitoring.
- Satellite images that show crop growth in the field.
- Nutrient content scanning of the fields.
Data = Knowledge
“Our digital offerings to customers mean that we collect more and more data. This leads to new knowledge, which, if used correctly, can help us continue to be leaders for farmers. We need strong partners who can challenge us and help us develop exciting solutions.
Tabellae is one such partner. They enable us to enrich documents with complex data retrieved from deep within various tables and sourced from different data points, such as:
- Grain analysis
- Deductions for excess moisture/debris
- Consolidating mailings so customers receive one combined letter instead of multiple daily letters
- Overview of farmers’ required government reporting
- EDI through platforms like Nemhandel, Ø90, and the Agricultural Portal.”
Danish Agro’s D365 consultant, Caspar Valdgreen Madsen, adds: “Tabellae also helps us be efficient in order management and inventory, where we rely on functioning print outputs like labels and picking lists.”
“We receive competent assistance from Tabellae’s consultants, who always find a solution and are excellent at teaching us, so we can manage as much as possible on our own,” concludes Caspar Valdgreen Madsen.
“Tabellae challenges us and helps develop exciting solutions, such as enriching documents with complex data from multiple data sources”
