ERP- Start with the last thing first

“Imagine being able to start an ERP project by defining the desired outcome right from the beginning.”

The simple ERP solution or the comprehensive one?

Customer documents are among the most visible outcomes of a successful ERP implementation. At the same time, they are critically important: without labels, there are no deliveries; without invoices, there is no cash flow and no liquidity.

However, this area is often overlooked and, in some cases, not ready for the first UAT or go-live. Such situations can significantly increase the risks in any ERP project:

  • Delays
  • Costly and inflexible solutions
  • Poor quality

There is a lot to be done in an ERP project.

Often, many stakeholders are involved in a project—both internally and externally. Each brings different skills, but everyone is working toward the same goal.

When project participants (whether from the ERP vendor or internal teams) take on tasks they have only rarely performed before, this can often lead to delays and budget overruns.

There are many tools available for creating ERP documents, including Word—but only a few people understand the content-related requirements and distribution constraints that are critical to success.

Even the worst tool in the hands of the best skills is better than poor skills using the right tool.

Start with a ‘Fast Track’ document package.

Always ask your ERP provider whether they have the right experience.
Knowledge is valuable—but knowledge combined with experience equals competence, and your ERP project deserves exactly that.

A best-practice package includes the essential customer documents from day one. In addition, you can start with a Fast Track package, which is often 60–70% prepared for the final, customer-facing result and at the same time contains valuable know-how. Most ERP providers have access to such packages for Dynamics 365 FO and BC as well as SAP.

Fortunately, the days when customer documents were programmed directly within the ERP system are over for most consulting firms—their consultants are now deployed on other ERP-related tasks.

“Choosing the partner is more important than choosing the product.”

Business documents are complex – we make them simple.

Our consultants bring more than 25 years of experience in working with ERP documents—and yes, it does get easier. At the same time, today’s requirements are significantly more complex: from individual customer demands and international regulations to a wide range of document formats.

“I don’t know anyone who brings all the skills on their own,” says Lennart Garbarsch.

But with the right ERP partner, a strong team, and the right tools, your ERP project becomes an exciting and successful journey. Congratulations on your decision to implement a modern, compliant, and efficient ERP system—the beginning of a new era for your business processes!
